Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro (D), who is considered a possible running mate for Vice President Harris, is set to kick off a weekend campaign blitz for her on Saturday.
The “Weekend of Action Volunteer Kick-Off with Governor Josh Shapiro” will take place on Saturday morning in Carlisle, Pa., which is outside of Harrisburg. Shapiro will be joined by Harris for President volunteers from central Pennsylvania.
The Harris campaign noted that she has received unanimous endorsement from the 159 delegates in Pennsylvania, which is a critical battleground state. Shapiro’s role in the volunteer kick-off comes as he has been floated as a top pick for Harris’s running mate and he is seen as a rising star in the party.
Saturday marks 100 days before election day and the Harris campaign is holding other events to mark it.
Second gentleman Doug Emhoff will headline a canvass launch for Harris and Democrats in Stevens Point in the battleground state of Wisconsin.
Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) will join other Harris surrogates and volunteers for a canvassing kick off ahead of former President Trump’s rally in St. Cloud, Minn.
Harris, meanwhile, will hold a fundraiser in Pittsfield, Mass., which will reportedly include appearances from musicians James Taylor and Yo Yo Ma.
And, on Tuesday, Harris will hold a campaign rally in Atlanta, making her sixth visit to swing state Georgia this year.
Harris announced her intention to seek the Democratic nomination on Sunday and since then, she has made gains in critical swing states compared to President Biden’s polling. A survey from Emerson College Polling and The Hill on Thursday found Trump narrowly leading Harris in key battleground states but by tighter margins than when Biden was at the top of the ticket.
