Rising home sales and prices helped M/I Homes report a 14 percent increase in income for the third quarter, but Wall Street expected better earnings and shares were down 5 percent at midday. The Columbus-based homebuilder reported income of $15.6 million, or 51 cents a share, for the quarter, up from $13.6 million, or 44 cents a share, a year earlier. M/I posted record revenue of $363.5 million for the quarter.
